Each year, between 15 & 24 girls who turn 15 are presented as Florecitas (little flowers) at the annual Fiesta en Xochimilco. The League of Mexican American Women has presented this modified version of the traditional Mexican Quinceañera since 1971. The Quinceañera Mass is held at St. Augustine's Cathedral on the last weekend of August. The following week, the first Saturday of September, the Florecitas are presented at the Ball "Fiesta en Xochimilco".
They also learn a process that lays a foundation of responsibility, spirituality and education for the girls' choices and decisions in life.
