The League of Mexican-American
Women sponsors the event to both honor and preserve Mexican history
and heritage and to generate scholarship funds. Fourteen-year-old
girls serve as Botoncitos ( Little Rosebuds) who
" bloom '' into Florecitas the following year. The little
ladies in waiting Botoncitos are the attendants at Mass, and
stand as honor guards when the Florecitas present their flowers
to the Virgin Mary. |
